Energy performance measurement and monitoring – pitfalls and best practice
Trainer: Liam Mc Laughlin, Lead international expert in energy management systems with the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) and CEO of GEN Europe
Date and time: Monday the 10th of May from 14:00 to 17:00
Synopsis: All organisations need to improve their energy performance; to reduce costs and to help to meet the new EU and Irish targets of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by at least 51% by 2030 and net zero carbon by 2050. One critical component of this challenge is to be able to measure progress against energy targets and to use data to support improvements and decision making.
This training will address the following topics:
- The pitfalls and challenges of selecting the most effective energy performance indicators.
- How to set energy baselines and energy performance indicators aligned with the requirements of ISO 50001 including normalisation.
- International best practice in setting energy targets monitoring performance against them.
- Linking energy performance to decarbonisation plans and targets.
- Advanced use of energy data analytics including how to identify and quantify energy saving opportunities through data analysis.
This training is based on the experiences gained over the past 10 years in UNIDO’s international capacity building programs in energy management systems and ISO 50001.
