Companies of a certain energy footprint must complete an energy audit every 4 years (>10TJ energy) or have a certified energy management system such as ISO 50001 in place (>85 TJ).
Statutory auditors are now required to ensure companies include an Action Plan in their annual reports.
- The Action Plan and the status of the (updated) recommendation implementation rate must be published annually
- These requirements also count towards those enterprises subject to the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), in particular towards the requirements of the ESRS E1 Climate & Energy standard
Energy professionals on SEAI’s Register of Energy Auditors have been doing energy audits since 2015, but the rules have changed. SEAI is tasked with policing this legal requirement and will publish guidelines on compliance shortly.
Bring your questions to help inform SEAI’s guidelines which are currently being drafted!
